Dallas County Promise values your privacy and the importance of data security. Our team protects all participant and partner information with the highest security, and we are committed to ensuring personal information provided to us is handled with confidentiality and care. Our Privacy Policy detailed below explains how we collect and use any data provided to us through the Dallas County Promise website and programs.


Please note, in this Privacy Policy, the Dallas County Promise website will be referred to as “Site” and the support services provided to our partners, including but not limited to the Site, will be referred to as “Services.”

What information do we collect?


Student Data


Participation in the Dallas County Promise program is voluntary. Students and parents may opt out of participation in and communications related to the Dallas County Promise program at any time. To be considered for the Dallas County Promise last-dollar tuition grant at participating colleges and universities, students are required to submit data through an electronic form (“Promise Path”) to the Dallas County Promise system.


Personal information includes, but is not limited to: student name, student email address, student mobile phone, physical home address, birthdate, gender, race, ethnicity, parent/guardian name, parent/guardian email address, parent/guardian mobile phone, high school, participation in college readiness and/or college credit in high school programs, post-high school plans, and college interest.


Partner Staff Data


Participation in the Dallas County Promise network is voluntary. Partner organization staff may opt out of participation in the Dallas County Promise network at any time.


By participating in the network, partner staff may be asked to supply personal and contact information.

Personal information includes, but is not limited to: name, title, district, high school, email address, phone number, and communication preferences.


How do we use the information collected?


Student Data


By submitting the Promise Path, students authorize the use of their information in the form, which includes personally identifiable information, to help them receive the last-dollar tuition grant at colleges and universities participating in the Dallas County Promise grant program.


Student information is processed by Dallas County Promise in accordance with the Release and Consent provided within the Promise Path and the details included in this Privacy Policy. Our team consistently reviews our data processes to ensure strict confidentiality of student data and that all collected data is relevant and appropriate for the administration of the Dallas County Promise program and last-dollar grant. No personal information is ever sold to any person or organization. Personal information is not shared with partners without consent, and any data shared with partner colleges and universities is intended for the benefit of the student in pursuing a postsecondary education. Students have the option on the Promise Path to indicate they do not want information shared beyond the partner colleges they indicate interest in.


Sharing excludes text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.


Partner Staff Data


This data is used with the purpose of sending important information and supporting student application issues. No personal information is ever sold to any person or organization. Personal information shared with partner organizations is intended for the benefit of students pursuing a postsecondary education.


All data collected is subject to use in research conducted by the Dallas County Promise team. Any data shared with evaluation partners is de-identified and cannot be traced back to individual participants.


How is the information we collect stored securely?


Dallas County Promise stores and processes data within a secure Salesforce database platform located in the United States. Salesforce is a globally recognized company for customer relationship management (CRM) products and services with a high degree of trust in data security and privacy. Data shared with school district and higher education partners is shared through a secure file-transfer process (SFTP) as designated by that school district or higher education partner in a way that meets both their data security standards and the data security standards of the Dallas County Promise team.


While we are committed to providing the highest level of protection and security with your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security of any information stored in partner school district or higher education systems. Please refer to the specific school district or higher education institution privacy policy for more information on their processes.


If your data is ever accessed by an unauthorized individual, you will be notified as required by state and/or federal law.



Who do we partner with for data sharing?


In the interest of supporting students in obtaining access to the Dallas County Promise last-dollar tuition grant, we partner with school district and higher education partners for data sharing.


Our school district partners include but are not limited to: Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD, Cedar Hill ISD, Dallas ISD, DeSoto ISD, Duncanville ISD, Garland ISD, Grand Prairie ISD, Irving ISD, Lancaster ISD, Mesquite ISD, Richardson ISD, and Uplift Education.


Our higher education partners include but are not limited to: Dallas College, Midwestern State University, Southern Methodist University, Texas A&M University at Commerce, Texas Woman’s University, University of North Texas, University of North Texas at Dallas, and The University of Texas at Arlington.

How can you request updates to contact information?


For any changes to student or parent contact information or to opt out of communications, please contact our team at Student.Success@dallascountypromise.org. For questions specific to our Privacy Policy or data usage, please include “ATTN Data Policy” in the subject line or at the top of the email body.


How can you request removal of information?


To request removal of student or parent information from our Dallas County Promise system, please contact our team at Student.Success@dallascountypromise.org, and include “ATTN Data Removal” in the subject line or at the top of the email body.


Does this Privacy Policy change?


Our team consistently reviews our data processes to ensure we are using secure policies, practices, and systems. As part of this review process, this policy is subject to change as we may include new technologies and platforms to improve the Services we provide to partners, students and parents. Any changes or additions to this Privacy Policy will be posted here and/or in other acceptable formats to share important information. Continuing to use our Site or Services after any changes or additions will be considered an acknowledgement and agreement of the new Privacy Policy.
